Description

ARX — Data Anonymization Tool

  • Anonymize sensitive personal data in structured (tabular) datasets.
  • Apply privacy models and risk thresholds to reduce re-identification risk.
  • Transform data and assess how useful the output still is.
  • Use an intuitive cross-platform graphical user interface (GUI) with wizards and visualizations.
  • Integrate anonymization into software via a Java library (API).
  • Import data from SQL databases, Excel, and CSV (including incomplete/dirty data).

Description

ARX is open source software for anonymizing sensitive personal data. It supports a wide range of privacy and risk models, different ways to transform data, and methods for analyzing the usefulness of the output data.

ARX is designed for privacy-preserving publication and sharing of tabular datasets (“microdata”). It helps remove direct identifiers (for example, names) and protects indirect identifiers that could otherwise be used to re-identify people.

The software has been used in commercial big data analytics platforms, research projects, clinical trial data sharing, and for training purposes. It can handle large datasets on commodity hardware.

How you can use ARX

Graphical tool (GUI)

A cross-platform application for importing data, configuring anonymization, and inspecting privacy risk and data usefulness.

Java library (API)

A Java library that provides programmatic access to ARX features for integration into pipelines and applications.
